THE MANY FACES OF PUBLIC SAFETY

Listen. Speak. Be heard.

On August 10 at the Star Theatre in Oceanside, hundreds came together to discuss, connect, and engaged with influential leaders and took away critical knowledge to addressing mental health strategies in efforts to improve public safety.

A new idea. A new perspective. A new approach.

NGOs, government bodies and educational leaders introduced new perspectives that went beyond the superficial need of needing more police presence in communities to prevent public disturbances by uncovering innovative techniques to improving universal safety via the understanding of mental health language.

Oceanside police Chief Fred Armijo

"In one sense, it made me wish that something like this (event) could be something that more of my whole department can experience. Not because I think my department needs it, but everybody can benefit from it," he said. "But I would love to see the interactions amongst the folks here and the connectedness that could take place."
